Gridiron Grind 2008

  Gridiron Grind Fantasy Football

It is time for a new style of fantasy football.  Gridiron Grind is here.  No more bad draft positions, season ending injuries, unbalanced trades or insignificant payouts.  There are many ways to win and you don't miss out on the cash if you miss the playoffs.  The scoring is traditional but the strategy is not.  You can use any player you want, but you can only use them for one week in the season, pick wisely. This prevents season ending injuries from ending a fantasy season.  The scoring also resets after the playoffs start, so saving players is important.  Single game injuries can also be protected by using insurance players.  Put simply, Gridiron Grind is the most rewarding, competitive fantasy football experience on the internet.

The strategy of the game is to select players on their best week of the season to get the most points out of every player.  If your plan is to win your division and take down that prize, you can use all of the elite players during the season and hope for the best in the playoffs.  All the division winners will make the playoffs regardless of overall standing in the league.  Another strategy is to use lesser players during the season and save the best players for the playoffs.  This gives you the best chance at winning the big cash prizes.  If you end up missing the playoffs, all hope is not lost.  You can still compete for the 'Best of the Rest' prize.  All prizes are cash, but nothing compares to the bragging rights of being entered into the Tournament Stadium Hall of Fame.

The starting roster for Gridiron Grind consists of one quarterback (1) (QB), two running backs (2) (RBs), three wide recievers (3) (WRs), one tight end (1) (TE), one  kicker (1) (K), one Defense (1) (D).  There are also two insurance positions, QB and RB/WR that we will cover later.  The season is 16 weeks, 12 regular season and 4 playoff.  This roster is a balance between using all studs and having to start bench players, making the weekly roster decision exciting.

Scoring is standard to most fantasy football leagues.  You get points for the amount of yardage and points your players score.  You lose a point when your players commit a turnover.  Defense is scored as a team, not as individuals.  Defense scores based on the points they allow, yardage they give up, sacks, turnovers, safeties, touchdowns and game outcome.  Points scored are accumulated over the regular season and then reset for playoffs and 'Best of the Rest'.  The exact scoring details can be found on the rules page.

To protect your team from single game injuries or late notice lineup decisions, Gridiron Grind has two insurance positions.  One is for the quarterback, Insurance Quarter Back (IQB), and one is for running backs or wide receivers, Insurance Running back/Wide receiver (IRW).  The (IRW) position can replace either a RB or WR.  Setting this roster position is optional, but if you have it set and your starter goes down, you can purchase an insurance credit and swap you insurance player in his place.  This replaces the stats for the starter and allows you to use the original starter again later in the season. This feature prevents a random injury or late coaching decision from ruining a season. Insurance players that are not purchased are considered used.  The fees collected for insurance credits increase the total prize pool, so the prizes you see at the beginning of the year are a fraction of what they will be at the end of the year.
